On the first Saturday in January, it was time for the women's association's sewing workshop to meet again. With an atmosphere characterized by focused determination, interspersed, of course, with moments of laughter, Mrs. Angela Hernandez led the course where the first task was to sew aprons and other garments, which will be marked with the common logo. These profiled clothes will be used at markets and other occasions where the women of our village get the opportunity to exhibit and sell their products.

The sewing machines have been donated from private individuals in Sweden who thus made the sewing initiative possible. Both the nearby National Park's logo as well as the El Camino de Costa Rica hiking trail's logos have been sewn onto various products that women sell to visitors, but today they sew it for products they have to wear themselves.

Mrs. Angela Hernandez, behind "Diseños Angela," leds, as always, the participants through the technicalities of fabric selection, pattern comprehension, and precise stitching techniques.

The first session wrapped up, and participants left with a sense of achievement and enhanced skills. But the forum, created a few years ago, is not only an occasion for creative pursuits but also a determined effort to strengthen the resilience and economic independence of women in the village of Las Brisas of Pacuarito. In 2024, the workshop stands as a clear expression of the community's dedication to progress and self-sufficiency.

If you have the opportunity to stop by Las Brisas' communal house 'La Casita Verde,' you can see and buy some of what the women make.
